Is the Statewide Database program expensive?
Answer
Not when you scratch beneath the surface! We estimate that most MLS member libraries would pay between $10,000 and $20,000 to purchase these resources for their users on their own. (Some would pay significantly more!) Using the more conservative figure, that means that we are spending over $2 million to save more than $10 million. This is how libraries collaborate, and we have a long history of working together to save big money! These services are used very heavily by students in K-12 and higher education libraries to the tune of more than 5 million downloads each year.
