In Sora, with a public library card, you can connect to your own public library as well as the other public library networks in the state to get access to even more titles.

Once you are in the Sora app, click on the "hamburger stack" menu on the upper corner right-hand corner of the screen. Then,

  • Click on the "Add a public library" option.
  • At the next screen, type in your public library OR the library network of your public library.
  • You will be led to the homepage page for the public library network's OverDrive collection
    • Note: the content that you see from the public library/network collection most likely will correspond to your content access level at your school (contact us if there is a problem).
  • Search or browse for a title then follow instructions to check it out
  • At the point of check out, you will be asked to provide your public library card login information
    • Tip: Check out and return a dummy title immediately to establish the connection so that when you're ready actually check out a title, you will not have to re-enter your library card information

For access to even more titles, you can add all of the public library networks (CLAMS, CW MARS, Minuteman, MVLC, NOBLE, OCLN, and SAILS) and the Boston Public Library as additional public libraries. At the point of title check out, provide your home library's library card login information.

While most titles will be available from a public library/network, see the attached list of subject headings for titles that will not be accessible through Sora.

Special Note: If you do not have a public library card, you can get an eCard from the Boston Public Library and use that as your public library card: https://www.bpl.org/ecard/. The Boston Public Library will be your "home" library when adding the other library networks.
