From researching this issue on the Adobe forums and other help sites, unfortunately it doesn't sound like this is an unusual error for Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
You can try to reauthorize your computer with Adobe.
Goto the ADE Help menu and choose "Erase Authorization." Exit the ADE program and then reopen it.
Next, goto the Help menu and choose "Authorize Computer." Then, after a successful re-authorization, exit ADE and restart ADE, and you should be all set.
But if you are still having problems, you can uninstall the ADE, re-boot your computer. Then re-install ADE, re-authorize ADE and hopefully that does the trick.
